Module 4: Configure Rivet
Configure your Rivet workspace
Set up company details, rental products, requirements, payment support, availability, and a practice customer journey.
Outcome
Practice one inquiry-to-closeout journey without creating a real customer charge or using real customer information.
Configure identity and control points first
Start with company name, contact methods, service area, business hours, scheduling rules, and brand details. These values appear across customer-facing workflows, so use approved information and confirm which team member owns future changes.
Review member access and the active company before entering customer or equipment data. A user interface selection or query parameter must never substitute for the authoritative company context enforced by the server.
- 1Confirm the active company and authorized members.
- 2Enter approved company identity, service area, hours, and customer contact information.
- 3Set scheduling capacity and blackout dates that reflect real operations.
- 4Review customer-facing brand previews before continuing.
Create products and requirements from approved rules
A product describes the rental offer; an inventory record describes a physical item. Keep them separate so pricing or requirements can change without erasing equipment history. Enter current customer-facing prices and any setup amounts exactly as approved.
Requirements should collect only information needed for the supported workflow. Explain why an item is needed and avoid adding sensitive fields merely because a form can hold them.
- 1Create up to the approved starter product count with plain names and prices.
- 2Map eligible equipment types to each product.
- 3Add approved customer requirements and review their wording.
- 4Confirm that unavailable or uninspected inventory cannot be presented as ready.
Review payments and documents without a real transaction
Use the supported provider connection and owner authorization flow. The customer controls provider credentials; do not paste passwords into notes or service forms. A configured connection is not the same as permission to charge.
Review agreement material, payment requests, invoices, and customer acknowledgments using clearly labeled example information in a safe test setting. Do not use a real charge as a convenient test.
- 1Confirm the supported payment connection status and the person authorized to approve it.
- 2Review current agreement and policy material with its owner and effective date.
- 3Create clearly labeled example records in the test setting.
- 4Verify previews and authorization boundaries without sending a real charge.
Rehearse the complete journey and exceptions
Walk through inquiry, qualification, Rental Setup, agreement, pending delivery, equipment assignment, activation, invoice or payment request, service, return, and closeout. At every transition, confirm the owner, evidence, and recovery path.
A successful happy path is not enough. Review a missing requirement, unavailable equipment, reschedule, failed payment communication, service replacement, and cancelled rental. Record any unclear step before real use.
- 1Practice the normal path from inquiry to closeout.
- 2Run at least three exception cases that are likely in the first operating cycle.
- 3Confirm emails, links, tenant branding, and records belong to the correct company.
- 4Remove or clearly retain example records according to the test-data rules and record anything that blocks launch.
Completion check
Complete a practice end-to-end workspace review
- Company identity and operating settings match the approved business rules.
- Products and customer requirements use current prices and plain boundaries.
- The supported payment connection is reviewed without exposing credentials or creating a real charge.
- A clearly labeled example inquiry, rental, schedule, service event, return, and closeout path is reviewed.
- Synthetic activity is labeled and excluded from activation or business-performance measurement.
Use this in Rivet
Organize your operation in a free Rivet workspace.
Enter your business details, create your account, and set up your company. Then add products, requirements, equipment, customer setup, scheduling, invoices, supported payments, service, returns, and closeout.
- Confirm your company details and team access.
- Add one product and a few example equipment records.
- Practice the customer process before using real customer information.
The lesson and tool remain free without an account. New workspaces are free for up to three active rentals with no payment method required. Optional services have separate published scopes and limits.
